Professor Roland Asmar

Professor AsmarProf. Roland Asmar is the past President of the French Spoken Network of Hypertension. Prior to this position, he was Associate Professor of Therapy and past President of the Working Group ‘Measurement and Evaluation’ of the French Society of Hypertension. Prof. Asmar is the president of the International Society of Vascular Health and a member of several international scientific societies.

Prof. Asmar received his medical degree from Montpellier University. He completed his cardiology and hypertension residencies at Broussais Hospital, receiving diplomas in non-invasive investigations, cardiology and vascular diseases specialist distinction from the French Medical Board.

Prof. Asmar developed his clinical research activities at the INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale), Broussais Hospital and Paris VI - Pierre et Marie Curie University. He received the distinction ‘Cardiologist of the Year 2001’ in France for his Continuous Medical Education activity.

Prof. Asmar has published more than 300 articles and several books. He is editor in chief of the Vascular health and Risk management journal. Prof. Asmar has led the organization of several international Consensus Conferences.

Prof. Asmar principal research interests include blood pressure measurements, non-invasive evaluation of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular clinical trials.
