Gianfranco Parati is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Clinical Medicine, Prevention and Applied Biotechnology, at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Milan, Italy.
He received his MD degree from the University of Milan, Italy, and was Resident in Cardiology and in Internal Medicine at the Milan University Hospital, where he was awarded the Certificate of Specialist in Cardiology and Specialist in Internal Medicine. Professor Parati has been the coordinator of the Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research, Instituto Auxologico Italiano, Milan, since 1991.
Professor Parati's research interests include ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and analysis of cardiovascular variability; pathophysiology and treatment of hypertension; congestive heart failure, sleep and the cardiovascular system; cardiovascular effects of hypoxia, and cardiovascular pharmacology.
Professor Parati is a member of the International Society of Hypertension, European Society of Hypertension, European Society of Cardiology, Italian Society of Cardiology and an International Fellow of the High Blood Pressure Council of the American Heart Association.
He has published over 500 papers and serves on the review and editorial boards of several international journals.
