Dr Marques da Silva is currently a consultant in Internal Medicine. He is the Head of the Arterial Investigation Unit in the Internal Medicine Department at the Hospital of Santa Marta, Lisboa, Portugal.

He is a certified specialist of clinical hypertension under the European Society of Hypertension.

Furthermore, Dr Marques da Silva is a Clinical Advisor for several areas. He is a Clinical Advisor of the Portuguese National Pharmacosurveillance Centre of National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED, I.P). He is a continuing member of the Pharmacovigilance Working Party of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP/EMEA). Finally, he is a clinical Advisor for the area of Atherosclerosis and Cardiovascular Risk Factors in the National Coordination for the Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases of the Higher Commissioner for Health.

Dr Marques da Silva is a renowned author of sixty papers in national and international medical journals and nine monographs.

He is a proud member of several boards including the Portuguese Committee for the Elaboration of the Portuguese Guidelines for Prevention of Atherosclerosis of the Portuguese Atherosclerosis Society, and also a Coordinator of the Council for Geriatric Cardiology of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology. He is currently the General Secretary of the Board of Iberolatin-American Society of Atherosclerosis, and was prior the Past President of the Portuguese Atherosclerosis Society.
