The PROTECTION^® Programme Trials demonstrated that telmisartan is an effective treatment in at-risk patients in terms of 24-hour blood pressure control and renal protection.

In the first five PROTECTION^® trials, PRISMA I and II, ARBs FDC, ATHOS, and SMOOTH, telmisartan sustained 24-hour blood pressure control, including during the critical last 6 hours of the dosing interval, when the incidence of cerebro- and cardiovascular events such as sudden death, myocardial infarction, and stroke is high.

The second five PROTECTION^® trials, TRENDY, DETAIL, INNOVATION, AMADEO, and VIVALDI, demonstrated that telmisartan is an effective treatment for preventing renal damage in patients at every stage of the renal continuum, from renal endothelial dysfunction to overt nephropathy.
