Overview
- The PRoFESS™ (Prevention Regimen for Effectively avoiding Second Strokes) is the world’s largest secondary stroke prevention trial with over 20,000 patients at around 695 centres in 32 countries. This study investigated the role of the angiotensin II receptor blocker telmisartan in secondary stroke protection.1
- This trial also investigated the efficacy of two antiplatelet regimens – aspirin plus extended-release dipyramidole (ASA-ERDP) versus clopidogrel – in prevention of recurrent stroke.2
