The ONTARGET^® Trial Programme is one of the largest, most ambitious ARB clinical study programmes ever undertaken. It investigates the role of the angiotensin II receptor blocker telmisartan in CV protection. It compares the efficacy and safety of the combination of telmisartan and ramipril with the respective monotherapies in the reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

The ONTARGET^® Trial Programme consists of two parallel randomized, double-blind studies: the ONTARGET (The ONgoing Telmisartan Alone and in Combination with Ramipril Global Endpoint Trial) trial and the TRANSCEND (Telmisartan Randomized AssessmeNt Study in ACE iNtolerant subjects with cardiovascular Disease) trial, in over 30,000 patients and 730 centres from 40 different countries.
