The primary endpoint of the ONTARGET^® trial programme is a composite cardiovascular endpoint of cardiovascular mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke or hospitalisation for congestive heart failure.

Secondary endpoints are newly diagnosed congestive heart failure, cardiovascular revascularisation procedures, newly diagnosed diabetes, cognitive decline/dementia, or new onset of atrial fibrillation and nephropathy.

Tertiary endpoints are all-cause mortality, non-cardiovascular death, angina, transient ischaemic attacks, development of left ventricular hypertrophy, microvascular complications of diabetes, changes in blood pressure and in ankle-arm blood pressure ratio, or malignancy.
