BREAKING NEWS:
Pritor and Kinzalmono as protective as current gold standard cardiovascular therapy but offers greater tolerability
Today Professor Salim Yusuf, Lead Investigator and Director of the Population Health Research Institute at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada, presented the results of the landmark ONTARGET trial at the hotline session of the 57th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology in Chicago, USA.
The trial results demonstrate that telmisartan provides the same level of cardio & vascular protection as the current gold standard ramipril in high risk patients, reducing the risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, and hospitalization for congestive heart failure in a broad range of patients with high cardiovascular risk.
Moreover, even in a patient population selected to tolerate ACE inhibitors, telmisartan was shown to be better tolerated and associated with higher treatment compliance than ramipril.
Telmisartan is thereby the only ARB proven to provide such effective and broad cardio & vascular protection.
These results represent a positive outcome for patients at high cardiovascular risk.
